Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how Unhooked (“Unhooked”, “we”, “us”) handles information in the Unhooked iPhone and Apple Watch app (the “App”). Unhooked is a self-help app for people who want to quit a habit — alcohol, smoking, vaping, sugar, social media and others. It counts days free, tracks replacement habits and moods, and offers tools for getting through urges.
2. What information the App handles
Almost everything you enter stays on your device. This includes:
- Habits and check-ins — the habits you track and the days you mark complete, and the "day zero" date and attempt count for the habit you are quitting.
- Mood journal and urges — mood check-ins, notes, and the triggers and urge intensities you log.
- Urge log and reasons — the urges you log (time, strength, whether you rode them out) and the personal reasons you write down.
- Money and time estimates — the weekly spend or daily hours you can optionally enter. They are used only to estimate what you keep and get back.
- Preferences — a display name you choose, appearance, sound, notification, and security settings.
This information is stored locally on your device. It is not transmitted to any Unhooked server, because the App does not operate one. The daily check-in reminder is a local notification scheduled on your device; the App does not use push notifications and sends no notification tokens to us.
3. Accounts and iCloud
No accounts. The App has no sign-up, no login, and no account of any kind. We never ask for your email address.
iCloud sync (Premium). With Premium, your habits, logs, and mood entries are synchronised through Apple's iCloud key-value storage tied to your Apple ID. This data lives in your own iCloud account under Apple's terms and privacy policy. We have no access to it and cannot read it.
4. Health data
With your explicit permission, the App writes the breathing exercises you complete to Apple Health as Mindful Minutes, using their actual duration, and reads your Mindful Minutes back to show your progress. Nothing else — not the journal, not the urge timer — is written to Health. Health data is managed by Apple's HealthKit on your device. It is never sent to us or to any third party, and it is not used for advertising. You can grant or revoke this access at any time in the iOS Health app or Settings.
5. Purchases and subscriptions
Premium features are offered as in-app purchases processed by Apple. Payments, billing, and renewals are handled entirely by Apple through your Apple ID. We do not receive or store your payment card details. Apple provides us with anonymous, aggregated sales information that does not identify you individually.
6. What we do not do
- We do not run third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs.
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
- We do not build advertising profiles or track you across other apps or websites.
7. Storage and deletion
Because your data is stored on your device, it remains under your control. You can erase everything the App has stored at any time using Settings → Reset All Data, which also clears the copy kept by iCloud sync. Deleting the App removes its on-device data; any remaining iCloud copy can be managed through your iCloud settings.
8. Children
Unhooked is intended for adults and older teenagers who want to quit a habit. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
9. Your choices and rights
You can control notifications, Health access, and the Face ID / Touch ID lock in iOS Settings and in the App, and you can clear your data in the App at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. Because your data sits on your own device and iCloud rather than our servers, you can exercise most of these rights directly. If you need help, contact us using the details below.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the App evolves. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and post the new version on this page.
